International Furniture Design Competition Asahikawa [IFDA] has been a global benchmark for furniture design for over 35 years, held every three years since 1990. Entry for IFDA 2027, the 13th edition of the competition, will open on July 1, 2026. Under a newly appointed jury panel, we welcome Jin Kuramoto as Jury Chair, alongside jurors Tsuyoshi Tane, Ronan Bouroullec, and Cecilie Manz. This gathering of world-class creators in Asahikawa—the spiritual home of furniture making—seeks new talent to shape the future of wooden furniture.
1990年から35年以上、3年に一度開催し続け、世界の家具デザインの指針となってきた「国際家具デザインコンペティション旭川［IFDA］」。今回で13回目を迎える「IFDA2027」の募集が、2026年7月1日より開始されます。審査委員体制を新たに、審査委員長に倉本仁氏、審査委員には田根剛氏、ロナン・ブルレック氏、セシリエ・マンツ氏が就任。世界の第一線で活躍するクリエイターが一堂に会し、家具の聖地・旭川から、木製家具の未来を拓く新たな才能を募ります。

Ahead of the July entry launch, Jin Kuramoto, Tsuyoshi Tane, and Cecilie Manz will gather in Asahikawa (with Ronan Bouroullec via video) to unveil the IFDA 2027 theme and hold a design conference exploring the future of wooden furniture.
7月の募集開始に先駆け、倉本仁氏、田根剛氏、セシリエ・マンツ氏が旭川に集結し（ロナン・ブルレック氏はビデオ参加）、IFDA2027のテーマを初公開。木製家具の未来を見据えた議論を行うデザインカンファレンスを開催いたします。

Jin Kuramoto is a Japanese designer who established JIN KURAMOTO STUDIO INC. in 2008. Born and raised on a small island in the countryside, he loves fishing and people a lot. He designs all kinds of products such as furniture, home appliances, eyeware, and automobiles with the belief that the form of things each tell a different story. He values the process of repeat trial and error, touching materials, listening to their voice, prototyping in a studio full of inspiration, and making positive accidents. His work has won a lot of international awards, including the Red Dot Award, Good Design award, and the iF Product Design Award.
1976年兵庫県生まれ。1999年金沢美術工芸大学工業デザイン専攻卒業。国内家電メーカーにて工業デザイナーとして勤務の後、2008年に東京目黒に『JIN KURAMOTO STUDIO』を開設。プロジェクトのコンセプトやストーリーを明快な造形表現で伝えるアプローチで、家具、家電製品、アイウェアから自動車まで多彩なジャンルのデザイン開発に携わる。素材や材料を直に触りながら機能や構造の試行錯誤を繰り返す実践的な開発プロセスを重視し、プロトタイピングが行われている自身の”スタジオ”は常にインスピレーションと発見に溢れている。iF Design Award、グッドデザイン賞、Red Dot Design Awardなど受賞多数。2020年Compasso d’Oro（伊）審査委員、iF Design Student Award（独）審査委員、2023-2025年グッドデザイン賞審査副委員長。金沢美術工芸大学客員教授、武蔵野美術大学非常勤講師、東京藝術大学非常勤講師。

Since 2006, Architect Tsuyoshi Tane has been based in Paris, where he founded ATTA - Atelier Tsuyoshi Tane Architects. He believes that architecture belongs to the memory of a place, as a connection between the past and the future, his concept of “Archaeology of the Future”. Tane's major works include "Estonian National Museum," "Hirosaki Museum of Contemporary Art," "The Al Thani Collection - Hôtel de la Marine," "Vitra – Tane Garden House," and "Imperial Hotel Tokyo New Main Building (scheduled for completion in 2036). Throughout his career, Tane has received numerous awards and honours, including Chevalier de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres by the French Ministry of Culture in 2022, Grand Prix AFEX, the 67th Minister of Education and Fine Art New-Face Award, among others. He publishes books, including ‘TSUYOSHI TANE Archaeology of the Future Vol. I & II’ (TOTO Publications).

Ronan Bouroullec is a French artist and designer, born in 1971 in Quimper. A graduate of the École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs (ENSAD), he founded his own studio in 1995. His work blends craftsmanship and industrial production, characterized by simplicity and sophistication, and spans various fields, including furniture, lighting, interior design, and public space projects. For nearly 30 years, he has collaborated with international publishers such as Hay, Mutina, and Vitra, while also teaching at ECAL (Switzerland). Alongside his design practice, drawing, an activity he has pursued since childhood, holds a central place in his daily life. He has been the subject of several monographic exhibitions presented in prestigious international museums. His creations and drawings are held in major museum collections worldwide, including MoMA in New York and the Victoria and Albert Museum. In spring 2024, the Centre Pompidou in Paris presented an exhibition dedicated to him, celebrating his generous donation to the museum.
ロナン・ブルレックはフランスのアーティスト、デザイナー。1971年、カンペール生まれ。国立高等装飾美術学校（ENSAD）を卒業後、1995年に自身のスタジオを設立。彼の仕事は、クラフトマンシップと工業生産を融合させたものであり、シンプルさと洗練を特徴とし、家具、照明、インテリアデザイン、公共空間プロジェクトなど、さまざまな分野に及んでいる。約30年にわたり、Hay、Mutina、Vitra などの国際的な出版社（パブリッシャー）と協働する一方、ECAL（スイス）でも教育に携わっている。また、デザイン活動と並行して、幼少期から続けているドローイングは、彼の日常生活の中心的な活動となっている。これまでに、国際的に著名な美術館において、彼の活動に焦点を当てた複数の個展（モノグラフ展）が開催されてきた。彼の作品およびドローイングは、ニューヨーク近代美術館（MoMA）やヴィクトリア・アンド・アルバート博物館をはじめ、世界の主要な美術館コレクションに収蔵されている。2024年春には、パリのポンピドゥー・センターにおいて、同館への寛大な寄贈を記念した展覧会が開催された。

After graduation from The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts - The School of Design in 1997 including exchange studies at the University of Art and Design in Helsinki, Cecilie Manz founded her own studio in Copenhagen in 1998. Here, Cecilie Manz works with furniture design, industrial design and experimental prototypes and sculp¬tural one-offs. Recipient of the Thorvald Bindesbøll Medal 2011 (Denmark), the Bruno Mathsson Prize 2009 (Sweden), the Finn Juhl Architectural Prize 2007 (Denmark), The Crown Prince Couples Cultural Award 2014 (Den¬mark), Designer of the Year 2018, Maison&Objet Paris, E. Kold Christensen’s Award of Honour, Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres 2019 (France), the lifelong Honourable Award from the Danish Art Foundation (Denmark), Honourable Award from the Danish National Banks Foundation 2021. Throughout its history, the competition has served as a vital bridge connecting designers from around the world with the craftsmanship of Asahikawa, the heartland of furniture. For IFDA 2027, we are honored to welcome a panel of judges composed of world-leading designers and architects. As a competition rooted in the manufacturing hub of Asahikawa, we are committed to sharing the possibilities of new furniture design with the world, further strengthening the bond between industry and creativity. We sincerely look forward to receiving visionary entries from designers across the globe.
1990年の開始以来、IFDAは今回で13回目を迎えます。世界のデザイナーと家具の聖地・旭川を結んできたコンペティションです。IFDA2027では、世界の第一線で活躍するデザイナーや建築家を審査委員に迎えます。家具産地・旭川から、産地とデザイナーを結ぶコンペティションとして、新しい家具デザインの可能性を世界に発信していきます。世界中のデザイナーの皆様のご応募をお待ちしております。
