For more than 35 years since its establishment in 1990, the International Furniture Design Competition Asahikawa (IFDA) has been held every three years and has served as a benchmark for furniture design around the world. The call for entries for the 13th competition, IFDA2027, opens on July 1, 2026. IFDA2027 introduces a new panel of Judges, with Jin Kuramoto serving as Chief Judge. The panel also includes Tsuyoshi Tane, Ronan Bouroullec, and Cecilie Manz. Bringing together leading creative professionals from around the world, IFDA2027 invites designers to shape the future of wooden furniture from Asahikawa, the heartland of furniture.
